Altadena Green is working to preserve and restore the character, culture and heritage of Altadena’s tree canopy, and to prevent the removal of healthy, mature trees that embody the spirit of the place.
Altadena Green is a grassroots organization of volunteer landscape professionals who have deep connections to the community and want to help coordinate actions to preserve trees and share resources for residents as they embark on the process of bringing Altadena back to life.

Her gardens have been featured in many publications and researched for habitat renewal. Her personal native California garden in Altadena has hosted thousands of visitors. She is an educator, activist for habitat protection, and the healing power of gardens. Her work includes gardens at the California Botanic Garden, hundreds of private gardens throughout Los Angeles and California, smaller community parks, and forest canopy restoration of native oaks in Central California. She has served on many boards and committees for sustainability, conservation, and habitat renewal.

Stephanie V. Landregan, FASLA, LEED AP, BD+C, has been providing natural resource planning since 2002. Presently Stephanie is the director of the UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture and Horticulture Programs. She is a practicing licensed landscape architect and as the former Chief of Landscape Architecture for the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, Ms. Landregan has work that covers Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, much within the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI).
Ms. Landregan and the UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture program work with diverse communities to facilitate design solutions that include appropriate site planning, site mitigation, stormwater mitigation, using nature-based solutions.

Rebecca K. Latta, ISA Certified Arborist (ISA WE #04264) founded Rebecca Latta Consulting in 2003 and has been the principal arborist . She holds a degree in Environmental Studies from UCSB and attended classes in Landscape Architecture at UCLA Extension. She has been an arborist certified by the International Society of Arboriculture since 1998 and is additionally certified for nesting birds, wetlands evaluation and tree risk assessment (TRAQ). She has worked as a consulting arborist, biologist, water manager and horticultural consultant since 1990 in both the public and private sectors in Southern California. She works with complex multi-agency projects that promote land stewardship through sustainable practices.
Originally from Altadena with family still in the area, she is passionate about tree preservation and restoration of native plants, tree canopy and the related ecosystem services after the Eaton Fire. She served on the board of the California Urban Forest Council, Inland Urban Forest Council, San Gabriel Mountains Chapter of the California Native Plant Society, Los Angeles County Woodland Habitat Conservation Strategic Alliance, and is currently serving on the board of the Southern California Horticultural Society.

Since joining the Council in 2004, Drew has worked with local natural resource and urban forestry experts to develop educational programs and materials. Drew supported the development of the Fire Safe Landscape Guide and led the development of several defensible space and post fire recovery focused convenings. Drew led the development of the Los Angeles Unified School District Drought Response Outreach to Schools (DROPs) grant proposal for $5 million dollars in school greening projects where five LAUSD schools were redesigned to capture rainwater and cool the campus with native trees, bioswales and other landscape improvements.
Presently Drew is managing the Upper Los Angeles River Arundo Removal Program working to remove this water intensive and highly flammable invasive species from our local Watersheds. Drew is former chair of the LA County Weed Management Area, he sits on the advisory board for City Plants and is a member of the Upper San Gabriel Watershed Area Steering Committee for the Los Angeles County Safe Clean Water Program.
